Every year Thatcham Town Council co-ordinates a Festival of Arts and Leisure to showcase the talents and skills of local people.  The Festival embraces two weekends and Thatcham Photographic Club and The Thatcham Art Experience have a weekend each in turn to mount an exhibition of work in The Old Bluecoat School. Thatcham Art Experience opens up entry to its exhibition to the whole local community, not just to those who attend their courses so that it is truly an inclusive event.

The Exhibitions are always very well received and the standard of work seems to be higher each year.  Some pieces are for sale and a donation from the proceeds is given to The Old Bluecoat School Trust to further its work in restoring this important Grade I list building and ensuring that it remains available for use by the community.

The standard of exhibited work is really high again this year!

The Festival Art Exhibition 2015 was a huge success with a continuous stream of visitors on both the days we were open to the public.  Many compliments were paid to the high standard of work exhibited. Several artists sold pieces of their work .

The Exhibition took place in The Old Bluecoat School  over the weekend of 17th and 18th October, 2015. Entrance to the Exhibition was free as usual and offered a showcase for the work of members of The Thatcham Art Experience past and present, and also of artists in the wider community of Thatcham.

Sadly, we have to tell you that there will be no Festival Art Exhibition organised by Thatcham Art Experience in The Old Bluecoat School this year as the building is currently undergoing essential renovation.
However, TAE will be running 3 taster Workshops!  Watch our website for details!

Visit The Old Bluecoat School, Thatcham, on Saturday, 12th or Sunday, 13th October, 2013 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., to view this year’s Exhibition by local professional and amateur artists.   Pieces for sale.

Just some of the comments received in 2013:  ‘…. the highest standard  achieved yet in the history of the Exhibition’,  ‘…. amazing diversity of styles’.

The Deputy Town Mayor, Councillor Mike Cole and his Mayoress, Mrs. Mandy Cole opened the Festival Art Exhibition 2012 in the company of members of The Thatcham Art Experience.  Simon Jardine, one of our teaching artists who is a caricaturist by profession, then asked the Deputy Mayor to sit for him and they were both very pleased with the result!

More than one hundred paintings were exhibited by twenty-eight artists in different styles and media.  TAE’s first calendar comprising members’ artwork sold like hot cakes!

On Saturday, 13th October, 2012 The Thatcham Art Experience’s own Teacher and professional illustrator, Simon Jardine, led a free Festival family-friendly cartoon workshop in The Hub, Church Lane.
